Between the Great Wall and the Mongolian Grassland (10 days)
This is a strip land from Beijing in northwest direction to Hohhot, along the Great Wall and across the vast mongolian grassland. Natural sceneries meet here with cultural heritages and make this land an exciting area to visit.

Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Welcome in Beijing. Meet and greet by your local tour guide and transfer to the hotel. Take a rest and free time at leisure.

Day 2 Imperial Peking
The Imperial Tour to the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven.

Day 3 Hiking on the Great Wall
Transfer to the Great Wall at the section Jinshanling. Hiking on the Great Wall and watching a sunset.

Day 4 Peking-Zhangjiakou
Transfer back to Beijing directly to the railway station. Take a train to Zhangjiakou.

Day 5 Along the Grassland Skyroad
Zhangjiakou is the gateway to the mongolian Grassland. Today you will have a road tour along a so-called "Grassland Skyroad" north of Zhangjiakou. Enjoy the amazing landscapes en route.

Day 6 Zhangjiakou-Hohhot
Transfer by car to Hohhot, which was an important marketplace in the history between the nomades and the Chinese inhabitants. City sightseeing upon arrival.

Day 7 Mongolian Grassland
One day excursion to the Xilamuren Grassland. Exploring and experiencing the mongolian traditions and hospitalities.

Day 8 Hohhot-Datong
Take a train to Datong, which was the cultural center of this area in the middle age. Visiting the Yungang Grottes, built in the 6th.-9th. Century. Afterwards strolling in the ancient downtown.

Day 9 Great Wall Ruins around Datong
One day exploring tour to visit the relics of the Great Wall in the surrounding area of Datong. Those relics are not renovated, but still in the original state of their own since hundreds of years.

Transfer to airport. Depart
